SPANISH ARABIAN HORSE FAMILIES 1898-1978

For over 25 years Joanna Maxwell's Spanish Arabian Horse Families 1898-1978 has been one of the most prized and sought-after books dealing with the Arabian horse.  When it was originally published in a limited edition of 750 copies, it quickly sold out and became one of the most coveted books of its special genre.  The few secondhand copies of the 1983 edition that came on the market often commanded more than ten times their initial retail price.

This new, updated Collector's Edition incorporates all of Maxwell's data and over 100 black and white photographs from the original work.  Its 344 pages contain essential information on over 3,600 members of the so-called Spanish Family.  Organised in easy to read male and female tables, the book articulates the history and descendants of the 11 patriarch sires and all of Spain's 36 foundation taproot dams.  An updated corrigenda to the first edition which was approved by the author is also included.

The original text has been amplified and embellished with 48 rare and/or historic photographs (33 in colour) of many of the near legendary stallions (Malvito, Zancudo, Congo, Tabal, Maquillo, etc.) and mares (Barakat, Arilla, *Agata III, etc.) that are found in the pedigrees of today's most illustrious Arabian horses.  In addition, photographs of several exceptionally good contemporary stallions such as Gabiro, Izabal, and Raffal, have been incorporated into the beautiful new work.

Tales Of The Breed's Collector's Edition is an unrivalled fountain of information on Spanish bloodlines that every serious breeder and aficionado seeking authoritative, dependable and on-the-spot answers will consult and treasure for years to come.
